  • ‘Enjoy Sarajevo 3’- mountain biking event

    first_imgMountain Biking Association Sarajevo is organising ,for the third time, traditional event ‘Enjoy Sarajevo’, mountain biking to Trebević.The event will start on Saturday 18 May ,2013 at 9.30 a.m. on the bridge of Suada and Olga.Participants of the race will start through Vilsonovo šetalište through Vraca and will drive on the old Austrian wood path until they reach the top. Because there will be several hundred participants, traffic will be stopped.Tha aim of the race is to promote healthy lifestyle and the partners of the project are City of Sarajevo, Association ‘Ruke’ NGO Horizont, Association Giro di Sarajevo, Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Economy, Stari Grad Municipality and East Stari Grad.The organiser called all fans of sports and nature to come and enjoy wonders of Trebević.(mtb)last_img read more

By Christine Rumleskie A red shield could help protect the country’s neediest citizens. The month of May is dedicated to Salvation Armies across the globe. To make the most of the proclamation, the local branch is participating the Red Shield Appeal Fundraiser.- Advertisement -The money will go into a fund, which can be used by Salvation Armies in need.Captain Ben Lippers says although the Fort St. John branch has become financially self-sustainable, there are many Salvation Armies that could use the money. The Salvation Army provides numerous programs to citizens of all backgrounds. The local branch offers an emergency shelter as well as a severe weather shelter. It also provides warm meals to the homeless and services to get people back on their feet.Lippers says the organization also sends alcoholics and drug abusers to rehabilitation programs in the lower mainland.He says when people contribute to the Red Shield fund, it ensures more people have access to similar services across Canada.Advertisementlast_img read more
